In just a few weeks the University of West Florida Division
of Anthropology and Archaeology will start the 2016 summer field school
focusing on the Luna Settlement. Over
the past few months a small crew has been doing initial testing of the site
digging small holes we call shovel tests.
Our field school will help to continue that testing and conduct larger
excavations in areas of interest identified during the past few months. Over the summer, this blog will feature
highlights of the project, showing our excavations and what we can learn about
the past from what is buried underground.
As our field season progresses we hope to share with you information
about archaeology and Luna’s settlement.
